SPIRTUAL GIFTS HIERARCHY?

It is so easy to create a “spiritual gifts hierarchy” within a Christian fellowship of believers. We can, in our minds, believe that certain people with certain gifts are more “special,” “gifted,” “needed,” “especially loved by God,” etc. Certrain gifts can be highlighted and “spotlighted” by leadership - knowingly or unknowingly. Categories can be created in our minds that separate, divide, or even shut some of us down from exercising legitimate spiritual gifts but which are not in the “spotlight.” Many times, the more “dramatic” gifts (prophecy, healings, tongues) are given center stage (whether literally or in our minds) which feed this hierarchical paradigm. But that is why the apostle Paul goes to great lengths to point out that, like our human body, all parts are needed (1 Cor. 12:12-26). If I don’t have to, I don’t want to function without an eye, an ear, a hand, or any other body part. It make it very hard to operate without those. Anyone who has had to do so, temporarily or on a long-term basis, can tell you. It was not the way we were intendied by our Creator to live. Therefore, everyone is gifted in Christ; everyone is needed. Let tear down this false hierarchy!!!
